Suspect in Valley Stream Armed Robbery in Custody; Second Man Still at Large, Police Report

Valley Stream, NY - September 21, 2017 - The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of a Laurelton man for a Robbery that occurred on Thursday, September 21, 2017 in Valley Stream.
 
According to Detectives, two male subjects entered the 7-11 store located at 190 N. Central Avenue and approached the two male employees, (ages 25 and 31 years). Subject 1 approached one male victim, pointed a black handgun at him and demanded he open the cash register. Subject 2 removed an undetermined amount of US currency and both subjects fled the scene on foot running on Meyer Avenue where they were observed entering a gray colored 2010 Audi A4.  
 
A witness observed the vehicle operating through the residential streets; Officers located the vehicle in front of 101 N. Montgomery Street where the subjects exited the vehicle and fled on foot.  
 
Defendant Douglas Simon, 36, of Laurelton, was arrested on Meyer Avenue in Valley Stream. No injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.
 
Defendant Douglas Simon is charged with two counts of Robbery 1st Degree and Criminal Trespass. He will be arraigned on Thursday, September 21, 2017 in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.
