Hempstead, NY - September 20th, 2013 - The Third Squad reports an arrest for Assault on Friday, September 20, 2013 at 12:30 A.M.

According to detectives, on Saturday, April 20, 2013 Daniel J. Fuentes, 26, of 50 Jackson Avenue Apt 109, Hempstead followed a female victim, 33, into an elevator at 565 Fulton Avenue.  Fuentes struck the victim in the head and face with a rock then pushed her against a wall and began to grab her in an attempt to molest the victim.  When the elevator doors opened the victim was able to run out at which time Fuentes unsuccessfully attempted to take the victims bag.  The defendant fled in an unknown direction.  The victim suffered lacerations to her head and lip and numerous loose front teeth and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

On Friday, September 20, 2013 the defendant was located at Rikers Island and transported to the Third Precinct for arrest processing.  He is charged with Robbery 2nd degree (Attempt), Assault 2nd degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree and Forcible Touching.  He was also found to have an open Village of Hempstead Police bench warrant dated 05/18/04.  He will be arraigned on Friday, September 20, 2013 at First District Court in Hempstead.
