Six WFHS Students Named To NYSSMA All-State Conference

Mastic Beach, NY September 16, 2013 – Six William Floyd High School students have been recognized for musical excellence and named to the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) All-State music ensemble performance annual Winter Conference held in Rochester, NY, from December 5-8, 2013.

Congratulations to the following William Floyd High School students for their NYSSMA All-State selections: Brianna Balzano, Alto I, Women’s Chorus; Kwasi Enin, Bass II, Mixed Chorus; Matthew Frisher, Tenor I, Mixed Chorus; Delaney Hafener, French Horn, Symphonic Band; Samantha Passarella, Soprano I, Women’s Chorus; and Nicholas Terlato, Tenor I, Mixed Chorus.

Each spring, several thousand high school students from across New York State compete at NYSSMA for only 890 positions available for the eight All-State ensembles, Vocal Jazz, Instrumental Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, String Orchestra, Women’s Chorus, Mixed Chorus, Symphonic Band and Symphony Orchestra. Special thanks to their teachers Barbara D’Orio (chorus) and Michael Cordaro (band) for their guidance in helping these very talented students achieve this great honor.
