New York Knicks and Chase to Host Clinic at Refurbished Courts in Roosevelt

Clinic and Court Dedication in Mackey Park is Part of the Basketball in the Boroughs and Beyond Program

Roosevelt, NY - September 12, 2014 - The New York Knickerbockers, Chase, Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano and Minority Leader Kevan Abrahams will host a free basketball clinic for 100 boys and girls and unveil the newly refurbished courts at Nassau County’s Rev. Arthur Mackey Sr. Park in Roosevelt, NY on Tuesday, September 16 at 5 p.m. as part of Basketball in the Boroughs and Beyond presented by Chase.
 
The event will include appearances by several Knicks Alumni and Liberty Legends and Nassau County officials as they reveal improvements made to the Mackey Park basketball courts. Improvements totaling $25,000 include court resurfacing, new backboards and new padding to all the poles.
 
The Knicks and Liberty Legends will instruct the boys and girls, ranging from 10-15 years old, in various shooting, passing, rebounding and ball handling drills. They will also lead a discussion on the benefits of leading a healthy lifestyle including nutrition, hard work, good sportsmanship and positive self-esteem. There will also be shooting contests with free prizes and giveaways for the participants. 
 
The Basketball in the Boroughs and Beyond presented by Chase program, which is entering its fourth season, adds to the increasing list of community initiatives by the Knicks that focus on growing basketball with an emphasis on serving at-risk communities.
