Patchogue, NY - September 23, 2015 - SJC Long Island will welcome Mother Dolores Hart for a lecture about her experience going from a glamorous movie star in Hollywood to a contemplative nun on Friday, September 25 at 3 p.m. The lecture will take place in The Muriel and Virginia Pless Center for Performing Arts at SJC Long Island in Patchogue

Hart was a bright and beautiful college student when she made her film debut with Elvis Presley in “Loving You” in 1957. She then starred in nine more movies with stars such as Montgomery Clift, Anthony Quinn, Warren Beatty and Myrna Loy, gave a Tony-nominated performance in the Broadway play The Pleasure of His Company and appeared in television shows.

In 1963, she stunned Hollywood, when after 10 highly successful feature films, and at the peak of her career, she entered the Abbey of Regina Laudis in Bethlehem, Connecticut, not in order to leave the glamorous world of acting she had dreamed of since childhood, but in order to answer a higher calling. While contracted for another film and engaged to be married, she abandoned everything to enter a contemplative monastery. Hart remains a voting member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

This event is free and open to the public. Autographed copies of Hart's autobiography, The Ear of the Heart, will be available for purchase at the event. For more information, call the Clare Rose Playhouse at 631.654.0199.

SJC Long Island is located at 155 W. Roe Blvd. in Patchogue, and is accessible via the South Service Road of Sunrise Highway, just east of Exit 52 (Waverly Ave.).
