Suffolk County Police today arrested a Northport woman for driving while intoxicated after her passenger was seriously injured in a crash in Centerport early this morning.

Centerport, NY - September 5th, 2013 - Suffolk County Police today arrested a Northport woman for driving while intoxicated after her passenger was seriously injured in a crash in Centerport early this morning.

Elizabeth Damilatis was driving a 2011 Volvo SUV westbound on East Main Street when she lost control of her vehicle, which struck a utility pole on the north side of road in front of 375 East Main St. at 3:51 a.m.

The passenger in the SUV, Thomas Martin, 36, of 6 Finch Place, Huntington, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

Second Squad detectives charged Damilatis, 25, of 106 Middleville Road, with Driving While Intoxicated. She is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on September 6.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
