SCPD Crime Alert: Truck Driver Wanted for Hit & Run Accident

Melville, NY - September 3rd, 2014 - Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating the driver of a truck that struck a vehicle and fled the scene.

On Friday, June 27, 2014, at approximately 2:20 a.m., a 2002 Saturn was traveling northbound on Walt Whitman Road in Melville when it was struck by a construction tractor trailer that was traveling westbound on Expressway Drive North.  The driver of the truck fled the scene and was last seen merging onto westbound Long Island Expressway.  Three people in the Saturn suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The truck had a sign in the rear that read “Construction Vehicle Do Not Follow.”

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
