A pregnant woman was shot on Saturday night; Police have arrested a man allegedly responsible for several burglaries.

Pregnant Woman Killed in Bay Shore
Suffolk County Police stated that they are investigating the murder of a 31-year-old pregnant woman and her unborn child.
 
Milagro Canjura of Stein Drive in Bay Shore was found inside her car on Saturday night after a witness heard shots fired and called 911. Officers responded to the scene, Canjura was shot several times.
 
She was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where she was pronounced dead.

Man Arrested in Commercial Burglary Spree
Suffolk County Police have arrested a man believed to be involved in a series of commercial burglaries over the course of several months.
 
A police officer heard an alarm going off at a business on Motor Parkway in Happauge on Friday night. The officer proceeded to the rear of the business, where he saw the suspect exiting with proceeds.
 
The suspect was able to flee on foot after a struggle with the officer. A perimeter was set up, and canine units were called to the scene. John Sheats, 35 of Central Islip, was found hiding in nearby bushes and was arrested without further incident.
 
After an investigation, police say the believe Sheats is also responsible for a string of burglaries that have taken place since May. Sheats allegedly burglarized other businesses in Hauppauge as well as Medford, Coram, Nesconset and Village of the Branch.
 
Sheats was scheduled for arraignment on August 31 at First District Court in Central Islip, and is being charged with seven counts of Burglary 3rd Degree, one count of Attempted Burglary 3rd Degree, and Resisting Arrest.
