North Channel, NY - August 31, 2013 - Suffolk County Police Marine Bureau officers were on routine patrol aboard the Marine 35 and Marine Xray vessels when they observed a male operating a 30-foot Wellcraft Scarab who was driving erratically at approximately 1:20 a.m. After stopping the vessel, the officers discovered that the male appeared to be confused and disoriented.
Christopher Meditz, of Simmons Drive, East Islip, stated that he had been drinking at a restaurant in Oakdale and was driving the boat to West Islip. Meditz, 28, was arrested and charged with Boating While Intoxicated.
Meditz is being held at the Third Precinct and will be arraigned today at First District Court in Central Islip.
