"High Wind Watch" ...High wind watch in effect from late Sunday night through late Monday night... The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a high wind watch...which is in effect from late Sunday night through late Monday night. * Winds...northeast 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph. * Timing...strongest winds will likely occur from mid morning Monday into Monday evening. * Impacts...downed trees and power lines are likely, with numerous power outages possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles, and on elevated roads and bridges. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A high wind watch means there is the potential for a hazardous high wind event. Sustained winds of at least 40 mph, or gusts of 58 mph or higher, may occur. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts. , "Storm Watch" ...Storm watch remains in effect from late Sunday night through late Monday night... * winds and seas...east winds 25 to 35 kt with gusts up to 50 kt. Seas 6 to 9 feet...and as high as 9 to 12 feet east of Orient Point. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A storm watch is issued when the risk of storm force winds of 48 to 63 kt has significantly increased...but the specific timing and/or location is still uncertain. East Meadow, NY - August 27, 2014 - Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano today released the September and October calendar of events for the Nassau County Aquatic Center, located in Eisenhower Park. The event schedule is as follows:

Saturday, September 13th: Section VIII Relay Carnival
  • Diving Events: 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
  • Swimming Events: 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Regular Operating Hours. Parking and/or pool space may be limited.
 
Thursday, September 18th:
  • Wantagh High School Dual Meet 4:45 p.m. – 6:45 p.m.
Regular Operating Hours. Parking and/or pool space may be limited.
 
Saturday, September 20th:
  • Bellmore-Merrick High School Dual Meet 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Regular Operating Hours. Parking and/or pool space may be limited.

Nassau County Aquatic Center
Centrally located in Eisenhower Park on Merrick Avenue in East Meadow, the Nassau County Aquatic Center is one of the premier swimming facilities in the country. Built in 1998 for the Goodwill Games, it serves the general public as well as competitive swimmers. The Aquatic Center regularly hosts college and local high school competitive swimming and diving meets and has hosted scores of Olympians, including Michael Phelps.
