The National Weather Service in New York has issued a Wind Advisory...which is in effect until 2 am EDT Thursday. * Locations...coastal Connecticut from New Haven east...and all of Suffolk County Long Island. * Hazards...strong winds. * Winds...north 25 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. * Timing...until 2 am. * Impacts...strong northerly winds may down power lines and a few trees...and make driving difficult on elevated roadways and bridges. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Wind Advisory is issued when sustained winds of 31 to 39 mph... or gusts of 46 to 57 mph...are expected or occurring. Winds this strong can make driving difficult...especially for high profile vehicles. East Meadow, NY - August 27, 2014 - Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano today released the September and October calendar of events for the Nassau County Aquatic Center, located in Eisenhower Park. The event schedule is as follows:
 
September 2014
 
Saturday, September 13th: Section VIII Relay Carnival
  • Diving Events: 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
  • Swimming Events: 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Regular Operating Hours. Parking and/or pool space may be limited.
 
Thursday, September 18th:
  • Wantagh High School Dual Meet 4:45 p.m. – 6:45 p.m.
Regular Operating Hours. Parking and/or pool space may be limited.
 
Saturday, September 20th:
  • Bellmore-Merrick High School Dual Meet 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Regular Operating Hours. Parking and/or pool space may be limited.
 
Saturday, September 20th:
  • Levittown High School Dual Meet 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Regular Operating Hours. Parking and/or pool space may be limited.
 
Friday, September 26th:
  • Girl’s Catholic High School Relay Carnival 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

*Diving Boards, Jacuzzi and sauna are closed during event hours.
 
Nassau County Aquatic Center
Centrally located in Eisenhower Park on Merrick Avenue in East Meadow, the Nassau County Aquatic Center is one of the premier swimming facilities in the country. Built in 1998 for the Goodwill Games, it serves the general public as well as competitive swimmers. The Aquatic Center regularly hosts college and local high school competitive swimming and diving meets and has hosted scores of Olympians, including Michael Phelps.
