Copiague Mom Arrested After Leaving Her 5-Year-Old Child in Running Car to Shop at Target Store

Copiague, NY - August 25, 2016 - The Second Precinct reports the details of an arrest for endangering the welfare of a child that occurred in Levittown on Wednesday, 08/24/16 at 3:43 P.M.

Second Precinct police officers received a radio assignment for a 5-year-old child left unattended in a running auto in a car seat in the parking lot of Target located at 3850 Hempstead  Tpke.  Upon police arrival, the mother of the child, Juliia Medvid, 29, of Copiague, exited the store and stated she was only gone a few minutes.  The child was released to a family friend and the defendant was placed under arrest at the scene.

Medvid is being charged with Endangering Welfare of a Child and will be arraigned on Thursday, August 25, 2016 in First District Court, Hempstead.
