Suffolk County SPCA Detectives Charge Mastic Beach Man With Animal Cruelty

Mastic Beach, NY - August 23, 2017 - Suffolk County SPCA Detectives have charged a Mastic Beach man with Animal Cruelty on August 20, 2017. 
 
Paul Hatch, 41, of Mastic Beach, NY was charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty for severely neglecting his dog. The male cocker spaniel suffered from severe matting, dental and eye issues requiring sedation to provide treatment to the dog. On Sunday, August 13, 2017 the dog was transported to the Town of Brookhaven Animal Shelter.
 
Hatch will appear in First District Court in Central Islip on  October 24th, 2017.
  
Chief Gross said that animal cruelty will not be tolerated in Suffolk County. If you witness any incident of animal cruelty or neglect in Suffolk County please contact the Suffolk County SPCA at (631) 382-7722. All calls will be kept confidential.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
