SCPD Investigating Man Found Shot Lying in the Street in North Amityville

Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred in North Amityville early this morning.

North Amityville, NY - August 23, 2015 - Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred in North Amityville early this morning.

First Precinct police officers responded to the area of Offaly Street, between Brandon Avenue and Geraldine Avenue, after a Shot-Spotter activation indicated that several shots were fired this morning at 1:40 a.m. When officers arrived, they discovered Cory Branch, 23, lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds to his lower body.

An investigation by First Squad detectives revealed that Branch was shot by an unknown person while he was standing next to a dark-colored SUV. Branch, of Wyandanch, was transported by ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital where he is listed in serious condition.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives are looking for the SUV and another vehicle, possibly a Honda Accord, which was seen in the vicinity at the time.
