Four People Arrested at Smithtown Sobriety Checkpoint

Smithtown, NY - August 23rd, 2014 - Suffolk County Police arrested four people and seized one vehicle during an overnight sobriety checkpoint in the Smithtown area.    

Police officers from the Suffolk County Highway Patrol Bureau conducted a sobriety checkpoint on Route 25 in Smithtown.  The operation was conducted for the prevention of injuries and fatalities associated with driving while intoxicated, particularly as a prelude to the Labor Day Weekend.  A total of 525 vehicles went through the checkpoint.

The following people were charged with Driving While Intoxicated:

  • Max Haller, 22, of Dianne Ave., Centereach
  • Keith Delauzon, 40, of Bond Lane, Nesconset

The following person was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs 

  • Taylor Tramazzo, 18, of Middle Drive, Lake Grove

The following person was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, a D Felony, as a result of having two prior convictions for Driving While Intoxicated within the previous 10 years:

  • Richard Rodriguez, 41, of 0 Heritage Place S., Nesconset

The above individuals will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on August 23.

A criminal charge is an accusation.  A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
