Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash in Setauket - Update: Car Identified, Information Sought

Update: January 24th, 2014 - Suffolk County Vehicular Crime Unit detectives are asking the public’s assistance to locate the vehicle involved in a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian in Setauket on August 23. Detectives determined the vehicle involved is a white 1999 to 2006 Hyundai sedan. The vehicle possibly sustained lower front-end damage on the passenger side and/or undercarriage damage.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-220-TIPS.

Setauket, NY - August 23rd, 2013 - Suffolk County Police Vehicular Crime Unit detectives are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian in Setauket early this morning.

An unidentified male was struck by a vehicle that was traveling westbound on Ridgeway Avenue. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the Vehicular Crime Unit at 631-852-6555 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
