Occasional gusts up to 35 kt early this morning. Seas 4 to 8 feet across the Long Island Sound. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Small Craft Advisory means that sustained wind speeds or frequent gusts of 25 to 33 kt and/or seas of 5 ft or higher are expected or occurring...and hazardous to small craft. Man Wanted for Shoplifting from Centereach Walmart

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Sixth Precinct Crime Section officers are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate a man who stole items from a store in Centereach this month.

Centereach, NY - August 22nd, 2014 - Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Sixth Precinct Crime Section officers are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate a man who stole items from a store in Centereach this month.

On August 13, 2014, a man entered a Wal-Mart, located at 161 Centereach Mall, and stole a wrench set and ratchet at approximately 10:50 p.m. The suspect put the merchandise in his pockets and approached the check-out counter, but before exiting the store, he dropped the merchandise and fled in an unknown direction. The suspect is described as a white male, dark-haired, with a beard and mustache, wearing a dark-colored T-shirt.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
