Copiague Teen Critically Injured on Dirt Bike After Crashing into SUV

Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a crash that critically injured a teen who was riding a dirt bike in Copiague last night.

15-year-old dirt bike rider, Alexander Collado of Copiague, is listed in critical condition.

Copiague, NY - August 20, 2016 - Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a crash that critically injured a teen who was riding a dirt bike in Copiague last night.

Jose Munozcarbajal was operating a 2005 Toyota SUV westbound on Oak Street, turning left to go southbound on Deauville Boulevard at 8:05 p.m. when his vehicle was struck by a 2004 Yamaha dirt bike, operated by Alexander Collado.

Collado, 15, of Copiague, was airlifted by Suffolk County Police Helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was listed in critical condition. Munozcarbajal, 22, of Massapequa, was not injured.

The vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing.
