Bellone Invites Residents to Career Development Workshops

Hauppauge, NY - August 20, 2014 - County Executive Steve Bellone announced today that the Suffolk County Department of Labor, Licensing and Consumer Affairs is hosting three career-development workshops in September, designed to educate residents about opportunities in new fields of work.
 
“These workshops represent a gold opportunity for people looking to change careers or get started in the workforce,” Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone said. “We encourage everyone in the market for a new and better career to take advantage of the information available at these sessions.”
 
On Tuesday, Sept. 9, Kensington Company representative Stuart Levenberg will present information on franchising opportunities and successful franchise career development. Topics include how to find a franchise and learning how to finance a new business.
 
On Wednesday, Sept. 10, a representative from Suffolk County Community College will present information on careers in the heating and cooling (HVAC) industry.  Work opportunities in HVAC include air quality, heating systems, refrigeration, industrial cooling, and in manufacturing technology, such as precision metal work and computer numeric control.
 
On Thursday, Sept. 11, a representative of the Suffolk County Department of Civil Service will outline information on available careers in civil service and how to apply for examinations.
 
Career  Quest workshops start at 9:30 a.m. and run approximately two hours. They are held at the Suffolk County One-stop Employment Center, 725 Veterans Memorial Highway, Hauppauge.
