Vans Replace Train Service between Oyster Bay & Mineola on Saturday, August 23 for Annual Oyster Bay Triathlon

Oyster Bay, NY - August 20th, 2014 - The Long Island Rail Road will substitute passenger van service for trains between Locust Valley Station and Oyster Bay Station this Saturday morning, August 23, from 7 AM to 11 AM to accommodate the annual Oyster Bay Triathlon.
 
The event will affect one eastbound train, the 8:25 AM from Penn Station which will terminate at Locust Valley where customers will board a van to complete their journey to Oyster Bay.
 
Two westbound trains, the 8:20 AM from Oyster Bay and the 10:20 AM from Oyster Bay, will be replaced by vans that will make all local stops to Mineola as necessary, where customers will board trains to continue their travel east or west.
 
Oyster Bay customers traveling on Saturday should pick up a special public timetable card reflecting the changes in service.
 
The annual Oyster Bay Triathlon begins at Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park with a half-mile swim across Oyster Bay Harbor. The swim is followed by a 15 kilometer bike race through the villages of Oyster Bay, Laurel Hollow and Cove Neck. The final event is a 5 kilometer run through Mill Neck and Brookville to the Planting Fields Arboretum and back to Roosevelt Park. The 5K run intersects with the LIRR right of way at Larabee Ave. and at West Shore Rd.
