The National Weather Service in New York has issued a Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow...which is in effect from 7 PM this evening to 7 PM EST Thursday. The Winter Storm Watch is no longer in effect. * Locations...eastern Union County New Jersey...southern parts of New York City...and Long Island. * Hazard types...heavy snow. * Accumulations...snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches tonight into Thursday. * Timing...rain mixes with sleet and snow this evening...before changing to all snow by midnight. Snow may be heavy at times late tonight through Thursday morning...before tapering off Thursday evening. * Impacts...hazardous travel conditions are expected tonight and Thursday due to reduced visibilities...icy roads and significant snow accumulations. * Visibilities...one quarter to one half mile at times. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. Woman Arrested in New Cassel for Robbing Cab Driver

New Cassel, NY - August 19th, 2014 - The Third Squad reports the arrest of a New Cassel woman for Robbery that occurred in New Cassel on Monday, August 18, 2014 at 10:30 pm.

According to detectives, a 37 year old male driver working for Taxi Hispanic Express picked up the defendant Patricia Wright, 25, of Wright Street on Third Avenue. A short distance away Wright grabbed money that was in the driver’s hand and a brief struggle ensued. The driver then stopped the cab on Hopper Street and Patricia Wright fled on foot through a rear yard of a nearby residence. Responding Third Precinct Police Officers were able to locate Wright on Wright Street in the vicinity of Broadway. She was then placed into police custody without incident. There were no weapons displayed. There were no injuries reported.

Patricia Wright will be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Tuesday, August 19, 2014. Wright is charged with Robbery 3rd Degree.
