Mastic Beach, NY - August 15, 2017 - This weekend, Assemblyman Michael Montesano (R,C,Ref-Glen Head) and Long Island Cares hosted The Summer Food Drive to End Hunger at King Kullen supermarket at 598 Stewart Avenue in Bethpage. The drive is held by legislative leaders and Long Island Cares across Long Island to end hunger. Many families on Long Island rely on Long Island Cares when times get tough, they helped countless families during the Hurricane Sandy aftermath.

“1,171 pounds of food will help so many families across Long Island. I’m proud to have partnered with Long Island Cares and to have been a part of The Summer Food Drive to End Hunger. No child deserves to go to bed hungry. I hope the food drive inspires more people to donate,” said Montesano.

“During a time when food drive donations are historically low, The Summer Food Drive to End Hunger serves as a significant tool in meeting our vision of a hunger-free Long Island. This series of food drives helps us put more food on the tables of our friends and neighbors facing food insecurity. The food drive sponsored by Assemblyman Michael Montesano on Saturday, August 12, 2017 resulted in an unprecedented 1,171 pounds of food for the needy. We are very grateful to Assemblyman Montesano for his participation and recognizing the truth of hunger on Long Island, and for his decision to stand and act on behalf of those in need,” said William Gonyou, Community Events and Food Drive Manager of Long Island Cares.
