Snow may be heavy at times this morning into early afternoon...before tapering off late this afternoon into this evening. * Visibilities...one quarter mile at times this morning into early afternoon. * Temperatures...mid 30s early this morning...dropping into the lower 20s by afternoon. * Impacts...hazardous travel conditions due to falling temperatures and Road icing...greatly reduced visibilities and significant snow accumulations. Some blowing and drifting snow is possible late this morning through this afternoon. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. Setauket, NY - August 11th, 2014 - Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Sixth Precinct Crime Section officers are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the woman who was involved in a hit-and-run crash in Setauket earlier this month.

A woman was driving a 2014 Kia eastbound on Route 347, just east of Pond Path, when her vehicle was struck by a white Mercedes SUV on August 1, 2014 at approximately 9:05 p.m. Both vehicles pulled into a nearby gas station and then the driver of the Mercedes fled the scene prior to police arrival. The Mercedes, driven by a white woman with long, brown hair and a tattoo on her right ankle, was bearing a stolen New York license plate, AFN 4311, and was damaged on the driver’s side.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
