Cove Neck/Cold Spring Habor, NY - August 8, 2015 - Second Squad detectives report the details of a Serious Aided that occurred on Saturday, August 08, 2015 at 12:30 pm in the waters between Cove Neck and Cold Spring Harbor.

According to detectives, a 34 year old female from Bayville, who jumped off a boat to retrieve a water tube, that became untied, began to swim back to the boat. The operator of the boat, who was unaware of the victim’s position in the water and was in the process of anchoring, put the engine into reverse. The victim who approached the rear of the boat was contacted by the engines propeller causing her to suffer severe lacerations to her right leg. She was transported to an area hospital by a Nassau County Police Department Air Bureau helicopter for treatment of her injuries and is listed in critical but stable condition.

The boat was impounded for safety checks and the accident has been deemed non-criminal at this time.
