Three-Year-Old Boy Injured in Shooting at Smithtown Residence

Smithtown, NY - August 6th, 2014 - Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating a shooting that injured a 3-year-old boy at a home in Smithtown yesterday.

Suffolk County police officers responded to a 911 call at 6:58 p.m. reporting that a shooting occurred at a residence in Smithtown and a child was struck by a bullet.

The boy was transported by Smithtown Fire Department to St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center in Smithtown and then transferred to Stony Brook University Hospital where he underwent surgery to remove the bullet. The child is listed in stable condition.

The investigation is continuing and additional details will be made available at a later time.
