Amityville Teens Arrested for Heroin Possession in Bethpage

Bethpage, NY - August 6th, 2014 - Narcotics/Vice Squad detectives report the arrests of two Amityville men on August 5, 2014 at 9:50 pm in Bethpage.

According to detectives, while conducting a narcotics investigation at the Bethpage Motel, 4107 Hempstead Turnpike, detectives observed a car being driven suspiciously in and around the motel. After the vehicle came to a stop in the motel parking lot, detectives approached the vehicle on foot, identified themselves and directed the occupants to exit. After refusing to comply, detectives reached into the vehicles window and attempted to remove driver. In an attempt to flee the scene the driver, Jasheem Pulley, 19, of Silverpine Drive, accelerated the vehicle in drive striking an injuring a detectives hand and causing other detectives to jump out of the way.

As the vehicle drove along the motel walkway, it struck the stairway leading to the second floor. Detectives were then able to apprehend Pulley and his front seat passenger, Lawrence Jay Duke Jr., 19, of Walnut Road. As Pulley exited the car, numerous wax paper bags, containing a substance believed to be heroin, fell to the ground. Both defendants were placed under arrest without further incident. The injured detective was transported to an area hospital for treatment and was released.

Pulley is charged with Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree and Assault 2nd Degree.

Duke is charged with Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree.

Both defendants will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 08/06/2014.
