"Winter Storm Warning" ...Winter Storm Warning in effect from 3 am to 6 PM EST Monday... The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow...which is in effect from 3 am to 6 PM EST Monday. * Locations...Suffolk County. * Hazard types...heavy snow and wind. * Accumulations...snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches. * Winds...northeast 15 to 25 mph with 30 to 35 mph gusts. * Temperatures...in the lower 30s. * Visibilities...one quarter to one half mile at times. * Timing...snow develops late tonight...and then the heaviest snow will fall from the Monday morning commute through Monday afternoon. * Impacts...the combination of strong winds and a heavy wet snow will bring down tree limbs and power lines. Hazardous travel conditions are expected due to greatly reduced visibilities and significant snow accumulations. Blowing and drifting of snow with near blizzard conditions are expected due to strong winds. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. NCPD Crime Alert: Two Suspects Wanted for Merrick Bank Robbery

The Robbery Squad reports the details of a bank robbery that occurred on Monday, August 04, 2014 at 5:45 p.m. in Merrick.

Merrick, NY - August 5th, 2014 - The Robbery Squad reports the details of a bank robbery that occurred on Monday, August 04, 2014 at 5:45 p.m. in Merrick.

According to detectives, two male black subjects entered through the rear entrance of the Capital One Bank, located at 35 Merrick Avenue. Both subjects displayed handguns as they demanded money from the teller. They fled on foot through the rear door with an unknown amount of cash. There were four employees present at the time of the incident and no injuries reported. The first subject is described as mid-twenties, 5’4”-5’6” tall, wearing a baseball cap, and long sleeve red shirt. The second subject is described as mid-twenties 5’8”- 5’9” tall, wearing a gray shirt and blue bucket style hat.
