"Winter Storm Warning" ...Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 7 PM EST this evening... * locations...eastern Essex...Union...and Hudson counties in New Jersey...and New York City and Long Island in New York. * Hazard types...heavy snow. * Accumulations...snow accumulation of 6 to 8 inches with isolated higher amounts. * Timing...snow will be heavy at times until 4 PM...tapering off late this afternoon into this evening. * Visibilities...one quarter to one half mile at times. * Temperatures...in the lower to mid 20s. * Impacts...hazardous travel conditions due to falling temperatures and Road icing...greatly reduced visibilities and significant snow accumulations. Some blowing and drifting snow is possible late this morning through this afternoon. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. NCPD Crime Alert: Two Suspects Wanted for Merrick Bank Robbery

The Robbery Squad reports the details of a bank robbery that occurred on Monday, August 04, 2014 at 5:45 p.m. in Merrick.

Merrick, NY - August 5th, 2014 - The Robbery Squad reports the details of a bank robbery that occurred on Monday, August 04, 2014 at 5:45 p.m. in Merrick.

According to detectives, two male black subjects entered through the rear entrance of the Capital One Bank, located at 35 Merrick Avenue. Both subjects displayed handguns as they demanded money from the teller. They fled on foot through the rear door with an unknown amount of cash. There were four employees present at the time of the incident and no injuries reported. The first subject is described as mid-twenties, 5’4”-5’6” tall, wearing a baseball cap, and long sleeve red shirt. The second subject is described as mid-twenties 5’8”- 5’9” tall, wearing a gray shirt and blue bucket style hat.

Detectives request anyone with information regarding the above incident to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
