Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash in Huntington

Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a pedestrian in Huntington last night.

Huntington, NY - August 5th, 2013 - Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a pedestrian in Huntington last night.

Richard Wright was walking northbound across Jericho Turnpike, west of Manor Road, when he was struck by a vehicle that was possibly travelling eastbound on Jericho Turnpike.

Wright, 31, of Huntington, was airlifted by a Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital where he is listed in serious condition with a broken leg, broken hip and head injuries.

The vehicle, which may have been gray in color, fled the scene. Detectives believe the vehicle may have front end damage.

The investigation is continuing and detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8252 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
