Suffolk County Police Vehicular Crime Unit detectives are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian in Huntington Station early this morning.

Huntington Station, NY - August 4th, 2013 - Suffolk County Police Vehicular Crime Unit detectives are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian in Huntington Station early this morning.

An unidentified male was crossing New York Avenue north of East 12th Street when he was struck by a vehicle that was travelling southbound on New York Avenue. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

The vehicle, which was described as a full-sized dark colored sedan, fled the scene. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact the Vehicular Crime Unit at 631-852-6555 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
