Officials: East Meadow Man Arrested For Robbery of Convenience Store

Steven M. Hodish, 31, stole cigarettes and fled from responding police officers, according to authorities.

New York, NY - August 3, 2017 - The First Squad reports the arrest of an East Meadow man for a Robbery of a convenience store that occurred on Thursday, August 03, 2017 at 1:30 A.M in East Meadow.
 
According to detectives, the defendant Steven M. Hodish, 31, did enter a 7-11 convenience store located at 391 East Meadow Avenue, and stole 3 packs of cigarettes. The defendant Hodish did exit the store without paying and was chased by a store employee. A physical altercation ensued. Defendant Hodish was able to flee on foot.
 
A few minutes later, First Precinct officers while on patrol did observe the defendant running and attempted to stop him but he fled. Officers saw the defendant then enter a residence on 7th Street where he resides and lock the door behind him. A short time later the defendant did come out of his home and was placed under arrest without incident.
 
Defendant Steven M. Hodish is charged with Robbery 3rd degree. He will be arraigned on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at First District Court in Hempstead.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
