Driver Arrested for DWI after Crash Critically Injures Bicyclist in Wyandanc

Suffolk County Police arrested a Roosevelt man for driving while intoxicated after his vehicle struck and critically injured a bicyclist in Wyandanch early this morning.

Wyandanch, NY - August 2nd, 2014 - Suffolk County Police arrested a Roosevelt man for driving while intoxicated after his vehicle struck and critically injured a bicyclist in Wyandanch early this morning.
 
Marion Johnson, 63, was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu northbound on Straight Path when his vehicle struck a bicyclist, Ishmeil Thomas, who was riding his bicycle on Straight Path at 1:27 a.m.
 
Thomas, 36, was transported via Wyandanch Rescue to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where is being treated for multiple injuries. He is listed in critical condition.
 
Johnson was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated. His vehicle was impounded for a safety check.
 
Johnson will be arraigned today at First District Court in Central Islip.
