"Heat Advisory" ...Heat advisory now in effect from noon to 8 PM EDT Monday... * heat index values...around 100 due to temperatures near 90...and dewpoints in the lower 70s. * Timing...highest heat indices Monday afternoon. * Impacts...the combination of the heat and humidity will increase the risk for heat related health issues...especially for the elderly...those with chronic health problems such as lung and heart disease...those working outdoors...and other heat sensitive groups of people. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A heat advisory is issued when the combination of heat and humidity is expected to make it feel like it is 100 to 104 degrees for two consecutive hours. To reduce risk during outdoor work the occupational safety and health administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. SCPD Crime Alert: Man Wanted for Shoplifting from Centereach Walmart

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Sixth Precinct Crime Section officers are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the man who stole a television from a Centereach store last week.

Centereach, NY - July 30th, 2014 -  Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Sixth Precinct Crime Section officers are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the man who stole a television from a Centereach store last week.

An unknown black male entered Walmart, located at 161 Centereach Mall, on July 13, 2014, and removed a 42-inch LED television from the display area. As the suspect exited the store, an employee attempted to stop him. The suspect left the television in a shopping cart and fled on foot.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
