Westbury Man Who Purchased a Car through Craig's List Later Discovers Car is Stolen, NCPD Investigating

Westbury, NY - July 28, 2015 - Third Squad detectives are investigating an incident that occurred on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at 6:30 pm in Westbury.

According to detectives, a 33 year old male victim responded to a “Craig’s List” advertisement regarding the sale of a 2012 Honda Civic. An arrangement was made with the sellers, who claimed to be the owners, to meet the victim at his house where the eventual sale was conducted for $8000.00.

The victim, at a later date, after attempting to register the vehicle at the Department of Motor Vehicles, was alerted to the fact that the car he purchased was in fact a stolen vehicle.

During the sale of the vehicle, the victim, utilizing his cell phone, captured a video and photos of the subjects involved in the illegitimate sale of the car.

Detectives are seeking to identify the subjects involved in this case and request anyone with information, regarding this incident or the identity of the subjects involved, to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
