Man Seriously Injured in Motorcycle Crash in Melville

Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a Brentwood man in Melville last night.

Melville, NY - July 28th, 2013 - Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a Brentwood man in Melville last night.

John Grant was operating a 1992 Harley Davidson motorcycle southbound on Pinelawn Road in Melville when he collided with a 1999 Volkswagen, driven by Dwight Bogle, who was travelling north on Pinelawn Road, and attempting to make a left turn into the Newsday parking lot near the intersection of Marcus Drive.
 
Grant, 22, of Willoughby Street, Brentwood, was transported by Melville Fire Department Rescue to North Shore-LIJ Hospital in Plainview where he is in critical condition with head injuries, a broken pelvis and other life-threatening injuries.
 
Bogle, 42, of Penndale Drive, North Amityville, and a passenger in his vehicle, Raquel Bogle, 43, were transported to North Shore-LIJ Hospital in Syosset for treatment of minor injuries.
 
Both vehicles were impounded for safety inspections. The investigation is continuing. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252. All calls will be kept confidential.
