Uniondale Man Arrested for Hempstead Bank Robbery

Hempstead, NY - July 26th, 2014 - The Robbery Squad and the Hempstead Police Department report the arrest of a Uniondale man for a bank robbery that occurred in Hempstead on Friday, 07/25/14 at 7:10 P.M.
 
According to detectives, Gary Warren, 24, of Park Place, while inside TD Bank located at 252 Peninsula Blvd., approached a bank teller brandishing a large kitchen knife and demanded money.  After obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, the defendant fled the bank on foot.  Hempstead Policed officers located Warren on Greenwich St. near Kennedy Park and when approached by police, the defendant again brandished the knife and walked towards police officers.
 
Warren was placed under arrest and the proceeds from the robbery were recovered. There were four employees and five customers in the bank at the time of the robbery.
 
No injuries were reported.
 
Warren is being charged with Robbery 1st Degree, Menacing a Police Officer, Possession Dangerous Weapon 4th Degree and will be arraigned on Saturday, 07/26/14 in First District Court, Hempstead.
