Motorcyclist Killed After Crash with Drunk Driver

Suffolk County Police have arrested a man for driving while intoxicated after he was involved in a motor vehicle crash that killed a motorcyclist last night.

Tomasz Myszke, 39, of Copiague, was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident.

Farmingdale, NY - July 24, 2016 - Suffolk County Police have arrested a man for driving while intoxicated after he was involved in a motor vehicle crash that killed a motorcyclist last night.

Tomasz Myszke was traveling southbound on Wellwood Avenue on a 2003 Suzuki motorcycle last night at 11:15 p.m. when he struck a 2012 Ford F-150 pickup truck that was traveling northbound on Wellwood Avenue and making a left turn onto Conklin Street.

Myszke, 39, of Copiague, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

The driver of the pickup, Edward Okon, 49, of Melville, was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated. He is being held at the First Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned this morning at First District Court in Central Islip. Okon was not injured in the crash.

Both vehicles have been impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information about this crash to call the Major Case Unit at 631-852-6555.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
