One Man Killed, One Injured in Huntington Station Shooting

Huntington Station, NY - July 24th, 2014 - Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating a shooting that killed one man and injured another man in Huntington Station last night.

Second Precinct police officers responded to a 911 call reporting that a man fired a number of shots at a group of people who were gathered outside of a Huntington Station home at approximately 9:35 p.m.

Daniel Carbajal, 25, of Huntington Station, who was shot in the head, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. Anthony Napolitano, 21, of Huntington Station, was taken via Huntington Community Ambulance to Huntington Hospital with a non-life-threatening injury to his leg. No one else was injured in the shooting.  

The suspect, who was described as a dark-skinned male, fired two more shots at the house and then fled on foot southbound on Varney Avenue.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
