"Winter Storm Warning" ...Winter Storm Warning in effect until 7 am EST Monday... The National Weather Service in New York has issued a Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow...which is in effect until 7 am EST Monday. The Winter Weather Advisory is no longer in effect. * Locations...much of southeast Connecticut...and central and eastern Long Island. * Hazard types...snow...briefly mixing with or changing to freezing rain across Long Island this evening. * Accumulations...snow accumulation of 4 to 7 inches. Ice accumulation of a glaze to a tenth of an inch of ice in Suffolk County. * Visibilities...one quarter to one half mile at times. * Temperatures...upper 20s. * Timing...snow will be moderate to locally heavy at times into this evening. * Impacts...hazardous travel due to snow covered surfaces. * Winds...west 5 to 10 mph. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. Man Wanted for Stealing $1000-Worth of Sneakers in Riverhead

Multiple pairs of sneakers were purchased with a stolen credit card.

Riverhead, NY - July 21, 2014 - Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and the Riverhead Police Department are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a man who stole more than $1,000 worth of sneakers.
 
On May 23, 2014, a man entered the Sneaker Aquarium, located at 41 East Main Street in Riverhead and purchased 5 pairs of sneakers with a stolen credit card.
 
The suspect is described as black, 6 feet 3 inches tall, clean shaven with a heavy build.  He was wearing dark blue pants and a light blue hospital scrub shirt.  He also wore a stethoscope around his neck.
 
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with any information is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS or contact the Riverhead Police Detective Division at 727-4500 Ext. 327.  All calls will be kept confidential.
