Additional minor coastal flooding is possible around the times of high tide Friday night. * Impacts...minor flooding of some shore roads and/or properties. Most roads should remain passable...with only isolated closures. There is no significant threat to life...and any impact on property is minimal. Precautionary/preparedness actions... Holbrook Woman Drowns in Backyard Pool

A woman drowned on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 9:33 p.m. on Railroad Avenue.

Holbrook, NY - July 20, 2014 - Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives are investigating the death of a Holbrook woman who drowned last night in her backyard pool.
 
Fifth Precinct patrol officers responded last night at 9:33 p.m. to a 911 call reporting that a woman was found unresponsive in a pool at her residence at 1882 Railroad Avenue, Holbrook.
 
Upon arrival, police and members of the Holbrook Fire Department Rescue Squad found Karen Gabrielsen, 50, unconscious and not breathing. She was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue where she was pronounced dead.
 
The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with any information to contact the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
