"Dense Fog Advisory" ...Dense fog advisory is cancelled... The National Weather Service in Upton has cancelled the dense fog advisory. A cold front was moving through the region with wind shifting to the northwest. Visibilities were slowly improving and widespread dense fog is no longer expected. Holbrook Woman Drowns in Backyard Pool

A woman drowned on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 9:33 p.m. on Railroad Avenue.

Holbrook, NY - July 20, 2014 - Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives are investigating the death of a Holbrook woman who drowned last night in her backyard pool.
 
Fifth Precinct patrol officers responded last night at 9:33 p.m. to a 911 call reporting that a woman was found unresponsive in a pool at her residence at 1882 Railroad Avenue, Holbrook.
 
Upon arrival, police and members of the Holbrook Fire Department Rescue Squad found Karen Gabrielsen, 50, unconscious and not breathing. She was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue where she was pronounced dead.
 
The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with any information to contact the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
