Roosevelt Man Arrested After Stabbing Girlfriend Multiple Times

Roosevelt, NY - July 16, 2014 - The First Squad reports the arrest of a Roosevelt man for Attempted Murder that occurred in Roosevelt on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at 6:55 pm.
 
According to detectives, the defendant Tremaine Ashley, 37, of Park Avenue was in his basement apartment with his 34 year old girlfriend when an argument ensued. At that time the defendant Ashley did plunge a kitchen knife into her neck and then stabbed her multiple times in the chest. The victim’s brother had observed Tremaine Ashley had fled in his 2012 Dodge at a high rate of speed north on Park Avenue. He then noticed the victim was unconscious and called police.  Shortly after, Hempstead police responded to an auto accident in which the defendant Tremaine Ashley’s auto struck a 2004 Dodge Caravan with 5 occupants on Baldwin Road near Botsford Street in Hempstead. A police investigation determined that he was driving while under the influence and placed into police custody. He was transported to North Shore University Medical Center and treated for lacerations to his wrists, neck, and chest. The five occupants were all transported by a Nassau County Police Ambulance to a local area hospital and were all treated for minor injuries. The 34 year old girl friend was transported to a local hospital in a Nassau County Police Ambulance and is in critical but stable condition.
 
Tremaine Ashley is charged with Attempted Murder 2nd Degree, Assault 1st Degree, and And Driving While under the Influence of Drugs. He will be arraigned when medically practical.
