Roosevelt, NY - July 14, 2017 - Suffolk County Police have arrested a man in Medford on Thursday for burglaries in Port Jefferson and Coram.
Following an investigation, Sixth Squad detectives located Joseph Wilko at his home in Medford and placed him under arrest at approximately 4:22 p.m. yesterday in connection with two separate home invasions.
The first burglary occurred at an occupied home on Sheep Pasture Road in Port Jefferson on May 15 at approximately 11:50 p.m. Three men entered the home, assaulted the homeowner, and stole money and a pickup truck. The homeowner, a male, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
During the second burglary, a 24-year-old man was shot multiple times inside the victim's apartment, located on Kiowa Court in Coram, at approximately 10:10 p.m. on June 27. The victim was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Joseph Wilko, 25, of Medford, was charged with two counts of Burglary 1st Degree, one count of Assault 1st Degree, and one count of Assault 2nd Degree.
The investigation is continuing. The Sixth Squad is seeking the public’s help in finding additional suspects in connection with these burglaries. Wilko will be held at the Sixth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip, NY, on July 14.
