Harbor Jazz Festival to Open in Stony Brook

An impressive array of jazz musicians will showcase the 4-day Harbor Jazz Festival scheduled for July 21-24 at The Jazz Loft in Stony Brook.

Stony Brook, NY - July 12, 2016 - An impressive array of jazz musicians will showcase the 4-day Harbor Jazz Festival scheduled for July 21, 22, 23 and 24 at The Jazz Loft in Stony Brook.

The featured event will be the Freddy Cole Quartet on July 22 when he will perform 2 shows; one at 7:30 pm and then at 9:30 pm.  Lionel Frederick "Freddy" Cole is an American jazz singer and pianist - not to mention the brother of Nat and uncle of Natalie - whose recording career has spanned over fifty years. 

This is the Freddy Cole 85th Year of Celebration and the quartet will feature Elias Bailey on bass, Quentin Baxter on drums and Randy Napoleon on guitar. Special limited VIP tickets for the 7:30 show are being offered and includes a 6:00 pm meet and greet with Mr. Cole and his quartet in the Jazz Loft library where food and wine will be served. These performances are made possible by through public funding by Suffolk County and the Greater Port Jefferson Arts Council.

Other luminaries performing at the Jazz Loft during the festival will be Rich Iacona's & His Bad Little Big Band, July 21 at 7 pm and the Warren Vache Trio on July 23 at 7 pm. Tom Manuel & His All Stars will perform on July 24 at 7 pm in front of the Stony Brook Post Office as part of WMHO’s Sunday Summer Concerts.   Visit here for tickets and further information.

The mission of The Jazz Loft is to advocate, educate and preserve this American-born artform.  It will include a full calendar of musical performances as well as classes for special needs people with autism, learning disabilities, dementia and alzheimer’s.
