Yaphank, NY - July 13, 2015 - On Tuesday, July 7th, Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker took part in introducing a new patch program for the Girl Scouts of Suffolk County.  The event was held at the Discovery World STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) Center, at Camp Sobaco in Yaphank, and offers girls a hands-on approach to explore STEM.

“STEM programs are essential to keeping our young minds bright and our country globally competitive. The partnership with National Grid and Girls Scouts of Suffolk County will inspire, motivate and encourage our girls to explore the exciting path of STEM,” said Legislator Anker.

The Girl Scouts have partnered with National Grid in unveiling the new program that teaches girls about the importance of energy and environmental conservation. The partnered program is the first of its kind to be introduced at the Discovery World STEM Center.
