The National Weather Service in New York has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for snow and freezing rain...which is in effect from 3 PM Tuesday to 2 am EST Wednesday. * Locations...New York City...Nassau and western Suffolk County...as well as Union...Essex and Hudson counties... * hazard types...snow and freezing rain. * Accumulations...snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches...along with a trace to a few hundredths of an inch of ice. * Temperatures...starting in the mid to upper 20s Tuesday afternoon...then slowly rising into the lower 30s to mid 30s late Tuesday night. * Timing...snow develops late Tuesday afternoon...then mixes with sleet and freezing rain Tuesday evening before changing to freezing rain by midnight...then to plain rain late at night. * Impacts...snow covered surfaces...coated with ice...will make traveling difficult at times. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow...sleet...or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Man Wanted for Robbing Drive-Thru Convenience Store in New Hyde Park

The Third Squad is investigating a Robbery that occurred in New Hyde Park on Monday, July 7, 2014 at 1:48 P.M.

New Hyde Park, NY - July 7th, 2014 - The Third Squad is investigating a Robbery that occurred in New Hyde Park on Monday, July 7, 2014 at 1:48 P.M.

According to detectives, a male subject, entered The Barn at 938 Hillside Avenue approached the female victim, 25, and ordered her away from counter into the bathroom.    The employee complied and the subject removed unknown amount of US currency from register and fled on foot westbound behind adjacent stores.  No injuries were reported.

Subject is described as a male white, 5’7”, blue eyes, thin build, wearing a mask with skull imprint, a tan t-shirt, dark gloves, shorts and sneakers.

Detectives request anyone with information regarding the above crime to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.  All callers will remain anonymous.
