The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a coastal Flood Advisory...which is in effect from 10 PM this evening to 2 am EDT Saturday. * Locations...along western Long Island Sound. * Tidal departures...around 1 feet above astronomical tide heights. * Timing...around the times of high tide between 10 PM and 2 am tonight. * Impacts...minor flooding of the most vulnerable shore roads and/or properties due to height of storm tide or wave splashover. Majority of roads remain passable with only isolated closures. There is no significant threat to life and any impact on property is minimal. Precautionary/preparedness actions... NCPD Crime Alert: Man Found Shot to Death in Car in Hempstead

The Homicide Squad reports the details of a Homicide which occurred on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at 1:20 A.M. in Hempstead.

Hempstead, NY - July 7th, 2014 - The Homicide Squad reports the details of a Homicide which occurred on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at 1:20 A.M. in Hempstead.

According to detectives, Hempstead patrol officers responded to 137 Princeton Street for a shots fired assignment. Upon arrival they discovered Shawn T. Boone, 26, in a vehicle with a gunshot wound.  He was pronounced deceased at the scene at 1:35 A.M. by Long Island Jewish Hospital ambulance personnel.

Detectives ask anyone with information about this incident to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.  All callers will remain anonymous.
