Long Island, NY - July 5, 2017 - Assemblyman Dave McDonough (R,C,I-Merrick) is pleased to announce his participation in the 2017 New York State Assembly Summer Reading Program. The program is designed to keep students in an academic frame of mind throughout the summer months and prepare them for the upcoming school year. Students who complete the summer reading program will also receive a special Excellence in Reading Certificate

“Reading is a critical tool to develop a student,” McDonough said. “Not only does this program help students stay academically sharp throughout the summer, it will prepare them for the upcoming school year and have them in a position to earn higher grades in the classroom. Our focus needs to be on our children and grandchildren, we must create an environment where learning and growing intellectually and academically is not only accepted but encouraged outside of the classroom.

“With such a small commitment that has such a great outcome, I strongly encourage parents and guardians to have their children take part in this year’s program,” McDonough continued. “I know that together we can ensure our children have a safe, fun filled and rewarding summer vacation.”
