Allergic to peanut? If you’re a consumer of Haagen-Dazs ice cream beware. There’s been a limited recall by Nestle USA of its Haagen-Dazs products.

The recall involves 10,000 packages distributed in the East Coast, including New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, South Carolina, the District of Columbia, Delaware, Florida, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.

The recall is due to mismatched packaging of its 14-ounce cartons labeled as Haagen-Dazs Chocolate Chocolate Chip Ice Cream with a UPC of 74570-08400, and lid labeled as Häagen-Dazs Chocolate Peanut Butter.

The recalled product contains peanut that is not identified on the bottom carton. The carton also includes a “best buy” date of 13May2015 and manufacturing code 24-52 4133580418D on the bottom of the carton.

The ice cream products under recall were produced May 13, 2014.

The mismatch of label was discovered by a consumer. The company is investigating the incident. It’s also working with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Food Allergy Research & Education to implement this product recall and alert consumers in the affected areas.

Serious or potentially life-threatening reactions may occur to people who eat peanut who are allergic to it.

Those who have purchased the recalled product and who are peanut allergy suffers are asked not consume the product. Consumers who purchased the product may also contact Nestle by calling 800-993-8924 or visit the website haagen-dazs.com.
