Queens Man Arrested for Scrapping Stolen Vehicles

Valley Stream, NY - June 28th, 2014 - Crimes Against Property Squad detectives report the arrest of a Queens man for criminal possession of stolen property that occurred in Valley Stream beginning 04/05/14.
 
According to detectives, Karlton Hope, 20, of 115-27 Bedell St., Jamaica, over a course of a month, was found to be in possession of twelve stolen vehicles for the sole purpose of scrapping them for their cash values. The defendant brought these stolen cars to a scrap yard and fraudulently presented a completed NYS Department of Motor Vehicle MV-35 form for each vehicle which contained false information in which the defendant purported to be the vehicle’s true owner.
 
Crimes Against Property Squad detectives arrested the defendant on Friday, 06/27/14 at his residence.  Hope is being charged with twelve counts of Criminal Possession Stolen Property 4th Degree and twelve counts of Falsify Business Record 1st Degree.  He will be arraigned on Saturday, 06/28/14 in First District Court, Hempstead.
