June 28, 2013 - This past weekend saw Legislator John M. Kennedy, Jr., Minority Leader of the Suffolk County Legislature, attend the Nesconset Athletic Association’s Annual regular season closing ceremony. The Nesconset Athletic Association has been providing sports to children from kindergarten through 12th grade over thirty years and has been very successful in meeting its goals of fostering growth and development of our youth through organized practices and games in the sports of baseball and softball in Nesconset and its surrounding communities.

Throughout his term, Legislator Kennedy has worked very closely with the Association and its officials, including President Gerry Hustick, in getting the fields redone and into a playable state. In addition, Legislator Kennedy has been a friend and active member of this important community enrichment program for years, with all four of his children participating in the league. Further, John has also partnered with the Nesconset Athletic Association over the last four years in hosting and organizing the annual Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit and Run Competition.

Legislator Kennedy commented, “although the end of the baseball and softball season is always bittersweet, I’m glad that the children enjoyed another successful season of America’s favorite pastime. I appreciate all of the hard work and dedication the league officials, managers, coaches, parents, volunteers and players put in this season and I look forward to next season even more successful. Additionally, I would like to wish all of the tournament teams the best of luck this summer as they take on the competition on the road to Williamsport.”
