SCPD Crime Alert: Man Wanted for Mugging in North Amityville

North Amityville, NY - June 27th, 2014 -  Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and First Squad detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the man responsible for a robbery in North Amityville earlier this month.

A man was walking on Route 110 on June 10 at approximately 3 a.m. when he was approached by a suspect who asked him to buy drugs. The male refused and continued walking down a side street and, a short time later, the suspect came out from a bush with a pistol and demanded cash. A witness called out and the suspect fled with the victim’s cell phone. The suspect later jumped from a tree and struck the victim with a knife. The victim was treated at an area hospital for stitches.

The suspect was described as a black male in his 20s, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall and 160 pounds. He was wearing dark clothing and a black baseball cap.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
