Smithtown, NY - June 26, 2015 - Students from the Fort Salonga Elementary School, as well as their siblings, participated in a Bike Rodeo and Safety Clinic sponsored by Suffolk County Legislator Rob Trotta and the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s deputies performed safety checks on the children’s bikes, inflated tires, and provided new helmets for those who had outgrown their old ones. Afterwards they rode an obstacle course to learn the rules of the road and to practice safe riding. “Nothing is more important than the safety of our children. Now that it is summer, they will be riding their bikes more frequently so I thought this was a great program that the Sheriff’s Office offers to the community and one that would help to teach them the proper rules and procedures to follow to insure their safety on our busy roadways,” said Suffolk County Legislator Rob Trotta.

Legislator Robert Trotta represents the 13th Legislative District, which includes Smithtown, Fort Salonga, Kings Park, San Remo, Nissequogue, Head of the Harbor, and St. James, as well as most of East Northport and parts of Northport and Commack.

Legislator Trotta serves on the Legislature’s Budget & Finance, Education & Information Technology, Health and the Humans Services and Ways & Means Committees.
